The A-Level General Paper is a broad subject that embraces a multitude of diverse topics such as politics, media, science & technology, values & ethics, crime & punishment, philosophy, family & society, culture, history, the arts etc.   The aim of this subject is to encourage JC students to explore a range of key issues (which are of global and/or local significance), and give them a solid foundation to thrive in our ever-changing world.

To help students tackle and understand the complex themes within GP, our lessons have been structured by Module and are conducted online to cater to busy JC students all over Singapore. They have been specially curated to focus on the content, language and evaluation skills necessary for JC students to do well for both GP Paper 1 (Essay) and GP Paper 2 (Comprehension). The latter also includes the Summary & Application Question components.

JC students aspiring to excel in the General Paper need to be able to think analytically, reason critically, construct coherent arguments and to communicate their ideas using clear, accurate & effective language.

Given this, our mind-stretching GP Modular Thematic lessons, aim to develop the following in JC students:

• the ability to analyse & evaluate issues across disciplines, showing appreciation of their significance and implications for the individual and society;

• the ability to read critically, think maturely and reason rationally;

• the ability to express their understanding and thoughts through informed personal responses; and

• the ability to construct cogent arguments and to communicate their ideas using good, precise & effective English.

To accommodate the schedules of as many JC students as possible, our GP Modules will be conducted and repeated at certain periods throughout the academic year.  There are TEN (10) GP Thematic modules in total.
